- INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND
- (IMF) (Международный валютный фонд) Специализированное агентство Организации Объединенных Наций, созданное в 1945 г., для содействия международному валютному сотрудничеству и расширения международной торговли, стабилизации обменных курсов валют и помощи государствам, испытывающим краткосрочные проблемы с выравниванием своих платежных балансов, для поддержания обменного курса их валют. Фонд помогает своим членам, выделяя для них суммы иностранной валюты, которую они хотят купить за эквивалентную сумму своей валюты. Страна-член возвращает фонду средства, выкупая свою валюту назад за валюту, приемлемую для фонда, обычно в течение трех-пяти лет (см. также: Special Drawing Rights (специальные права заимствования) ). Фонд финансируется за счет членских взносов своих членов, размеры которых зависят от оценки их благосостояния. Количество голосов у каждой страны зависит от размера ее взноса-чем он больше, тем больше голосов имеет страна. Штаб-квартира фонда находится в Вашингтоне.
